Background:
Akemi was born in Tokyo and grew up in the wrestling business. Her father was a trainer for All Japan Pro Wrestling. She learned the tricks of the trade early and was wrestling by the age of 14. Growing up, Akemi noticed how popular the American wrestler were when they would do special appearances and imagined what it must be like working with them in the States. When she turned 18 she left for the U.S. against her father's wishes. She learned quickly how different American wrestling was from Japan and has become disillusioned with the business as a result. She refused to return to Japan out of stubbornness - she does not what to prove her father right.

Akemi perfected a devastating finisher in Japan called the Flying Lotus (an off the top rope vertibreaker). No promotion in the U.S. has allowed her to use.
