He almost makes a person think wrestling is "on the level" with the way he manhandles his opponents. Background: Jim Borden always ended up on the wrong side of the law, even as a kid. And it was usually for the same thing: violence. His teen years saw a drastic increase in this problem, as he was always beating up someone. He was in and out of reform schools, where he was often able to take down guards and such, despite his young age.  It's not that Jim is a bad guy or anything. He's just rowdy and short-tempered. And he always seems to gravitate toward others who share his problems. One of these folks turned out to be a pro wrestling instructor. One thing led to another and Jim ended up enrolled in a training school, where he was taught by a group of old-school hard-assed ex-wrestlers. So he learned the ropes the hard way.  This launched a wildly successful career as he traveled the country, drifting from one promotion to another. All the while, he was mastering his heel act, which isn't terribly far removed from his real personality.
